The 20-bed Casa de Carmen albergue in Barbadelo which closed in 2019 is to reopen under new ownership on August 1st.

Thank you for this article. I have stayed in Casa Carmen twice - on my first camino in 2011 and my second in 2013 - once in the albergue and once in the Casa. Fondest memories. I didn’t know it had closed in 2019.

We will be walking the Frances in late October / November this year, for the first time in 10 years. There are 3 or 4 places where I’ve stayed a decade or more ago that I am hoping to revisit. This was one. I see the new owner is from one of our favorite Spanish towns - Girona. A good omen perhaps
