Does anyone have information about a plan to modify the route of the Camino and to bypass Viloria de Rioja? If so, this would be a real shame as it has one of best refugios on the Camino and is the birthplace of Santo Domingo de la Calzada.

It is one of those "might happen" things because of highway construction. I suspect that pilgrims would be able to go through Viloria de Rioja even after the highway is built, but it will be a while before anyone knows. From February 27:

Santo Domingo. The non-attached councilor of Santo Domingo Carlos Barrón will take to today's plenary, at 8:00 pm, a motion of urgency for the City Council to support the Burgos town of Viloria de Rioja in which the Camino de Santiago continues to pass through it.

The mayor explains that the plans for the next section of the Autovía del Camino will take the Jacobean route away from the town and that "it will drag six people who live and work in relation to the Camino de Santiago to leave the town." He adds: "We can not allow the institutions to forget our Saint and the place of his birth, since he was and is the best and greatest protector of the Jacobean pilgrim, one of the creators of the first shelters and care centers to cover the needs of those who tried to reach Finisterre and, next to San Juan, Ortega, builder of bridges and more bridges so that no one would see his illusion of visiting the apostle, in Santiago, truncated.

With his motion he wants, among other issues, to urge the Ministry of Public Works - of which Santo Domingo is the boss - to continue the Camino de Santiago through Viloria de Rioja and, also, collect signatures through the 'change.org' platform .

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

This article was in Diario de Burgos Saturday 13 April and it says (I hope I get this correct) that there will be an underpass and bridge that will allow pilgrims to enter viloria de rioja. Can anyone who can translate with more confidence confirm if I have got this correct. Thanks
