I now skip Castromaior. It is quicker and less hilly to stay on the road after Gonzar and stay Straight to the T in the road, cross over the highway, make a left and you rejoin other pilgrims as they make a right on there way to Ventas de Naron. When you get to T there are camino signs there.If I recall, it is a pretty steep and steady hill all the way from Portomarin to Castromaior.

Wow - I was just there two days ago. It is a pretty steep climb - suppose that aided in the defense of the Iron Age hill fort. Rest in peace
That is SOOO crazy... I simply do not recall it "being steep" (yet so many of you state so and it does look this way on the Stage 31 map.... about 200m elevation).Yes, it is rather steep, and I thought the same thing.
