First one in 2005 from Moissac, France.
It was over 40C all day, a long and hot day on the Meseta and the refugio was still closed so we staggered into a bar in the small village of Alexios- a friend of mine took this video of us ;) - you will know this moment!

I remember Sylvia Syms talking about this. They had to use real lager and it took fourteen "takes" to get it right - you can see the level rise and fall only to rise again - after which "Johnny (Mills) had to go for a little lie down . . . . "

When Carlsberg used the clip in an advertising campaign years later the actors were paid more for the advert than they got paid for the film!

It's a northern Europe thing:

Scum on top of your pilsener is a per-requisite for your beer in the Netherlands and Germany. A foamy head on top of your pint of beer is also required in Northern England (where oversize lasses are used) Only in the degenerate south of England do they serve beer without a head in smaller Pint glassses.

Yes in Dutch it should be spelt "Schuim" foam/froth or even respiratory failure. Dutch is economical with word re-use.

First came across the Dutch word shuim (sounds like SKUM) for the foamy head when I requested more beer and less froth in a bar in Nijmegen. I told him the preferred maximum head was 25.4mm. He obliged but asked if I was from Germany not sure why:-?

I’ve been there but it was after a super long stretch walking into Cee (after Santiago)!!!

Yes missed a "G" however many barmaids from my youth were over muscled from using hand drawn pumps for the beer!
Previous to my retirement I also had a secretary who used to proof read my emails and correct when necessary. This helps when one is equally dyslexic, misogynistic and have bad habit of not checking the auto-spellcheck!
