First "Camino"

Hi everyone! I'd like to walk alone next year from Sarria to Santiago. What I don't know is which could be a better month to walk alone: may or june? Thanks!!!

May and June are about the same for the last 100km; June has about 240 more compostelas per day (about half of that is on the Camino Frances), but the infrastructure is adequate to find a bed each night.

Having done the CF starting in SJPP on May 16th and doing the Sarria- Santiago portion in mid to late June of this year, I'd recommend May. Fewer large student groups and hopefully a bit more solitude. My opinion and 2€ will get you a cafe con leche anywhere on your Camino. I hope yours is as meaningful as mine was. Buen Camino!

I'd probably choose May as well. Not much difference in the weather and as mentioned already, because the schools will still be in session, you won't have as many student groups.

I concur with the May idea. Better weather, fewer people, less noise, less trash (litter), better chance of accomodations without a foot race everyday.

Walk alone from Sarria? January 3rd should be about right

Seriously though, since May and June are pretty busy months I'd consider getting a very late start to every day and book my room a couple days ahead. This will take away any pressure from bed races and hopefully most walking that section will be up early and excited to get going. Enjoy a few leisurely cafe con leches until you don't see anyone walk by for 15-20 minutes and then stroll out the door so you have no danger of catching up to them!
