Fleeces and sleeping bags in September (Frances)

Hello all,

My friend and I are walking the Camino in late August and early September and the planing has begun, we've taken the first step.

The first of many questions I'm sure is do we need a sleeping bag? Or would just a fleece blanket and sheet do.

Also, how cold does in get in the Pyrenees, will a light weight fleece do?

Love and sparkles to you all

Hello snowhite,
Last September was very lovely weather, and I didn't take, or need, a sleeping bag, just a silk liner.you would not need to take your own blanket . All the albergues we stayed in had blankets, if needed. It does get cooler in the evenings. If you find you need a sleeping bag , or more layers later on, you will be able to buy them.
Buen camino

thank you so much for getting back to me, thats great news, will sort out a sleeping bag liner, did you have any problems with bedbugs

peace and love

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
We also walked at that time and took silk sleeping bag liners, but no sleeping bag. We did however take thermal top and long johns and a light fleece and some of us wore them at night occasionally.
You don't want to ask me about bed bugs

I walked in Sep/Oct 2012 and only took a sleep sack and found it acceptable. Only once I was cold (Roncevalles) and I had to use my poncho for a blanket. I think most other albergue's had blankets.

On my blog I discuss this as well as my treatment for bed bugs which i did before I left as well as a lot of other tips and suggestions. I did not have any bed bug problems and I used albergue blankets.
