Flying into Seville, flying home from ??

For those that have walked the VdlP, where did you fly home from?

I will likely fly into Seville.

But flying home? I plan to end my camino at Finisterre or Muxia (or if not possible then at SdC).

• I could take a bus from SdC to Porto (around 3 hours). Porto has cheap flights to Vancouver.
• I could take a train to Madrid (not sure how long it takes, but likely longer than a bus to Porto, and likely more expensive?)
• I could take a train back to Seville (not sure how long it takes, but likely longer than a bus to Porto, and likely more expensive?)
• something else?

I will have more time than money, so not deterred by the length of time it takes me to get home if it's going to save a substantial amount of money.

I know there are about a million factors that will influence the price and ultimately my choice, but curious where you flew home from?

Alsa, the Spanish coach company, have great fares at moment and apparently tomorrow they are coming up with a. ‘Super offer’ available to buy for one day only. I got a ‘teaser’ email today so will see what it says! I will post up if anything super great though they are running some great fares at at moment. Pretty much pick your destination in Spain!

Porto sounds right for you.
Last time I took it, the train Santiago-Madrid was ca. 5h.

Santiago to Madrid by train is now 3 hrs with the new high speed route.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm starting to lean the same way - either Madrid or Porto. Those will likely be my best/cheapest options.

Happily, flights to Spain/Portugal (from Vancouver) are pretty much the cheapest flights to anywhere in the world right now. I've been scouring for flights to all sorts of places around the globe but most are still at pandemic-high pricing. For whatever reason, Spain and Portugal have gone back to pre-pandemic cheap prices. Maybe it's another sign that I'm meant to go back .

Really depends on where you are flying to........
I went in and out of Madrid.
Madrid to Seville was an easy train ride at the start.
Lots of cheap flights Santiago to Madrid.

I usually fly home from Barcelona, having flown there from SdC, but I am travelling in the opposite direction to you.

Porto hands down as flown several times from there to Toronto. The airport is small (I love small airports) compared to the massive 4 Terminals in Madrid. The airport in Porto is also new, spacious and airy and have never encountered crowds.

I would recommend Porto.
The bus is cheap, the airport in Porto is nice and you'll have the chance to see Porto, if you didn't visited it yet.

But book the bus in advance, they book out quick.

When I walk the VDLP I fly in and out of Madrid and bus to my starting point.
