Good albergue at Puente de la Reina

Am having a really good stay at a newer albergue just outside Puente de la Reina, called Santiago Apostol. They were passing out leaflets at Alto de Perdone today and the fact they had a pool was a big draw. Decent bunks, good meal, clean washroom and a refreshingly cold pool were all exactly what I needed. Totally worth the climb up the hill after the bridge.

It is nice but that walk up the hill at the end of the day is tough...does give one a head start on the next day though!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Too funny! I stayed there in 2015 and thought it was new then!!!

It isn't ;-) and it is also one of my least favorite albergues on the CF - too far out of town, too touristy, too commercial - but other tastes may be different. BC SY

It seemed really far out of town at the time. I do remember a spectacular sunrise though!

I stayed there last year, and what made it special was the group of pilgrims staying there with me at the time. And the swimming pool on a 35°c day! :) The walk up the big hill, not so much. :p

I stayed there about 4 days ago and its apparent newness is perhaps down to a lack of customers, there were perhaps 6 of us staying there. The place is utterly soulless but that pool at the end of a blazing hot day made it totally worthwhile.

I met a young German chap a few years ago that was pushing on though town to get to that 'Big cool swimming pool' ;no doubt he had been fantasizing about it the whole blazing day :) . I have been there myself just to have a look and I must say that it did look like a great place - personally I always stay at the Los Padres Reparadores - call it a habitual indulgence after staying there in 2002. It was my first night on the Camino while on a 5 day 'Test Run'.

I too stayed there Spring 2014, and found it to be as advertised. Next time, I would stay in-town, I foynd I really enjoy the vibe and energy of the community. Though it was nice, I didn't experience that being isolated up on the hill.

Buen Camino

Exemplary upkeep! The place looks (and feels) always new

We (wife and I) stayed there in May 2015 and the place was spotless , few pilgrims but severalother travellers from the adjacent van park and that ensured a good night at the dinner table

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
