Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
My sweet seventeen year old son (who incidentally has thousands of kilometres under his belt on Caminos and NZ trails) thought it hilarious to send me this:872B433C-C066-468C-8698-C23E1C09B6E7.png
He was surprised (can’t imagine why) and perhaps quietly impressed that I could tell him the route shown is the longest possible continuous walk on earth according to google maps. Of course there are actually longer walks possible - but by this stage his eyes were glazing over!
Then he looked at me with horror and said “You’d actually do this wouldn’t you?” A quick calculation later and he informed me it would take a year and a half even if I walked a marathon every day!

And here is the link in case you want a giggle at the comments

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Ahhhh... memories of a good friend. A veteran woodsman, he often led hikes to places he'd been; however, it became clear that his sense of distance was atrocious (he was in great physical condition) and he would often understate the distances by a factor of 50%. We learned to grab a topo map and carefully vet his ideas (pre-internet, there were great maps from the US Forest Service, maybe they still exist...). Oh, yes, my friend also never mentioned elevation gain or loss in his idyllic descriptions, just an estimate of how far it would be. Probably why I never get to worried about the distances or topography of the Camino routes and stages.
