Help!! Damaged LCL yesterday and I’m supposed to fly to France tomorrow to start my Camino.
My doctor says go and walk a km a day! I’ll finish when I’m a hundred and eight. Do I go? Stay? Aarghhh! I just stepped wrong in the garden- nothing dramatic. I spent yesterday crying and icing and icing and crying. I’m truly beside myself trying to decide. I can walk but it hurts. I bought a brace that costs more then my first car, and a tens machine.
I guess I’m just feeling sorry for myself and no one in my non Camino world gets it.
Oh, so sorry to hear this, @spagirlView attachment 45566

Please, everybody, do not run in order to catch transport. I had a friend who was running to catch a London bus, fell over and broke her leg. And missed the bus... The sad thing is, there would have been another one along shortly thereafter. It may be irksome to miss a bus/train/plane, but there will always be another one, so be kind to yourself and others and avoid injury. So sorry!! As sugargypsy says, only you know your situation. It also depends on where you're coming from, and whether or not you've already taken the time off work, etc. In which case, you might enjoy a relaxed holiday/ recovery time somewhere, even if you save the walking for next time.
My mom had a similarly disappointing experience last year: she slipped and broke her foot running to catch a connecting flight to join me on the Camino (all the way from South Africa!) ... Months of planning, a 12 hour flight to Europe, and then for that to happen at the last minute, what are the chances? - in any case, we ended up having a very different experience to what we'd originally planned, and we also learned a few things... about taking care of the body, taking things as they come, and not taking things for granted.
Based on the doctor's advice, I think postponing your camino might be a good idea. You might harm yourself further, and possibly do irreparable damage. Maybe your first "camino lesson" is to take care of yourself!
@spagirl I am so sorry for you and, regardless of whether you go ahead or not, I do hope the healing is fast and complete. I don't have any specific advice because I don't know your personal circumstances (work, family commitments, ability to re-schedule) or the severity of the injury.
But it does reinforce my need to take out travel insurance as soon as I buy a ticket, or to activate my travel insurance attached to my credit card. That way if something happens before I leave, I will not be out of pocket.

Thank you so much for all of the support.
I’ve decided to go ahead and if I walk 10 minutes and quit for the day so be it.
Maybe in the end it will be exactly the Camino that I needed!
Maybe I’ll spend a day sitting by the road handing out frozen treats????
Who knows? I will be in Spain.
Every thing else will unfold as it is supposed to.
Maybe I’ll set a record for the slowest Camino?
Stop and say hi if you see me in December still walking! lol
if you re going to loose your air fare in fees you might as well go and see how you feel after a few days. dont overdo things if you do come home early you will have at least had a glimpse of how it isView attachment 45566

Hey! Spa girl! How are you today? I am waiting to hear how the flight went, where you are, how you are getting from where to where... and now let me confess that I had to look up LCL. First thing that showed was Less Than a Full Load. So I kept digging... Pity you don’t have access to Patrick Pio’s glove. I swear, I know someone who used to speak of Patrick Pio, as if he was born and bred in Holy Cross, Co Tipperary! Just make sure you keep the pain under control, with whatever your doctor prescribed. Ultreia!Thank you so much for all of the support.
