Intention set..............

Hi Francine from US. I made my intention to walk the Camino in June 2012. My "training" started shortly after and look forward to Spain and the Camino Frances. I'm walking about 5 miles a day, 6 days a week.

I generally don't eat immediately upon rising but noticed after a few weeks of training when I awake I'm very hungry. I've had to stop a few times when walking for an energy bar and water. I'm guessing my body is adjusting to the increase in exercise.

My question is......is it best to carry health bars on the Camino? Is breakfast viable? It isn't easy for me to grab just anything because milk isn't my friend. Cheese isn't an option....or any dairy except yogurt.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

congratulations on a great start on your camino.
IMHO, "energy bars" are overpriced, heavy, and full of artificial stuff. The ones available out here in the wilderness always are full of chocolate and chemicals and are more like candy than food. FRUIT is your friend in these situations! It is natural, digestible, filling, packable, available, and it does not stick you with the guilt of throwing the wrappers along the trail (carrying energy bar/granola bar wrappers to the next trash bin is apparently an impossibly heavy burden to dozens of pilgrims).

Buen camino!

But you are in no way bitter, Reb! :D I agree that a banana is probably as good as some kind of energy bar, although banana skins are also discarded regularly. Totally wrong. Overall, the natural food you get along the Camino is one of its delights, though.

Buen Camino!

Oi vey! The pilgrim asked about breakfast, buying health bars and yogurt and got advice about the evils of chocolate, chemical additives and not littering! Reb lighten up...chocolate is good :)
