Via de la plata walk planned for June
My name is Dermot and I am travelling to Seville on 8th June 2016 with a view to walking the via de la plata for about 5 to 10 days. I am 64 years of age but in good health and very fit. I do a lot of walking here in Ireland but would love to have company on this long Spanish walk that is new to me. Are there any groups or individuals doing the walk at that time that I could join. ? I am aware that there are very good packeges available for theses walks but they stretch beyond my budget.

My intention is to stay in budget accommodation along the route and I am very flexible with regard to anybody else's plans be it long or short duration. I am doing this walk with a view to a laugh and some fun with a drop of vino at the end of the day.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Dermont just start and walk. You will meet people on the way. There is always someone to talk to. Just maybe not in 'your' language but it's amazing whT miming and tolerance can do!

Thank you for your reply which is appreciated. Still thinking about it. I was originally to go with friend but he had to pull out. I will be staying in hostel so maybe I will meet people there.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hi Dermot,
The Via de la Plata is beautiful, I began my walk on Oct. 14th 2015 walking alone but
met up with others all along the way. It is not commercialised or crowded, there were usually about 8/10 other pilgrims on the Camino at the time. I am 60 yrs old and relatively fit but the Camino is not arduous from the point of view of terrain. I wore ordinary runners, not boots and I had a pair of sandals for evening wear. It was quite hot at the start of my 5 weeks on the Camino, around 25C I think.
Keep your backpack weight to a minimum, I had about 7kgs and it felt heavy at times!
Buen Camino,
John.
