may/can I camp along the Camino Frances?

I would love to sleep outside along the Camino Frances. I am traveling mid-summer. Are there sites available? Is it permissible to camp with or without a tent? thank you

Yes.
I've done it often.

This blog is a few years old, so I'd be sure to check the info, but it's really not difficult to find places to sleep outside.

In the summer, I took a screen tent. Lightweight and set up with my walking poles.
But honestly, the municipal albergues are so inexpensive, it makes more sense to stay in them unless you have a good reason for camping (I have MCS and perfumes, laundry soaps, etc. make me sick).

If you use the search function of the forum you will come across A LOT of threads regarding wild/stealth/normal camping on the Camino, but here a short summary:

You need to consider the extra weight of tent/tarp/sleeping pad and decide if it is worth it.
Official campsites are few and far from each other and often noisy as they are mostly used by Spanish families on holidays.
If you camp outside you will need permission from the landowner and the closer you come to Galicia, the more signs 'no camping' you will see.
As a rule of thumb, wild camping is not allowed alongside the Camino Frances, but it also differs a bit depending on the region.
