Hello, I am looking for options to get from Muxia to Madrid on Saturday March 31. It doesn't look like there are any trains from Muxia. Are there viable (low stress) options available by bus or bus/train?

Thank you,

Tom

The closest train stations to Muxia are in Santiago and A Coruna, so you will need to start with a bus from Muxia. I suggest just going back to Santiago and taking a train to Madrid. Schedules may not be published until 60-90 before your travel date, but likely will be the same as you find for next week!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
You may also want to check flights from Santiago to Madrid. They are reasonable in price if you purchase ahead and quicker than the train or bus. I did not find flying out of Santiago stressful.

We'll probably get to Muxia the next day. We're just planning to take the bus to Santiago and flying directly to London from there (flight on the 2nd), since travelling around in Spain at the end of Semana Santa is often a bit of a hassle.

Twice we have rented cars in Santiago to go to Madrid (three of us, so not that much more per person) because all buses and trains were full - so get your ticket early!

mspath is right to reccomend rome2rio, it's very useful. Things may well have changed since but 4 years ago I discovered to my great expense that buses were only leaving Muxia every other day, so definitely check not only times but dates.

I was shocked at how long trains from Santiago to Madrid took. Flying was a lot quicker and not massively more expensive.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Schedules and itineraries are bound to have changed in the two and a half years since Peg and I took the bus from Muxia to A Coruna but I do not recommend going this way over Santiago. I think we had two changes of bus at the street (not in stations) and it was confusing even with a bit of Spanish.

We found the trip from Santiago to Madrid this late November by train delightful - a nice rest after walking. It took around 5 hours and cost 36.55 Euros (the last minute fare booked the day before). It was a cheap and easy trip by taxi to the train station in Santiago and then in Madrid a quick trip by Metro to our accommodations.
