Hi there, I would like to know what other travellers used on their time on the Camino for holding personal belongings? That is, money, card, IPhone, diary, pen. Solo travelling and just keen to know for when out and about and showering after day's walk?

Hi WazoSmurph,

Not knowing if you are a male or female I am going to give you a link for you to check items for both. The site is called PackingLite. I am partial to the Eagle Creek Suzie Clutch because it is very lightweight, has several compartments, it fits inside my backpack and it´s easy to pull it out and take it with me if I´m going out to the market, to a restaurant or to church, plus it is cute :D. Eagle Creek has a variety of styles for both men and women, and of course there are other brands available. Here is their link:

Hope this helps!

I had a 'sea to summit' brand ultra light day pack that weighs just a few grams and compacts to the size of an egg. It was very handy for afternoons and evenings!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Personally, passport, big money and credit cards ALWAYS go into a money belt underneath clothing.
Daily cash can go in pockets.
Diary and pens can stay in the pack.
But I never, ever put my passport, money, and credit cards in a backpack.
You're asking for it to be stolen.

Watch my blog on pickpockets and that will help you understand why.

You can buy a comfortable money belt on the Rick Steves' website, or at any travel store. Amazon.com also has them.

In 2009 I bought a unisex shoulder bag to carry essentials. Strap over shoulder and rests on hip. The advantage was that if needed to drop my rucksack outside of a bar or shop it went in with me without any problems.

It came from a cheap and cheerful junk shop run by an Asian lady, cost 10 euros and goes with me even on non Camino journeys. I like it because it leaves both hands free. The only drawback is it is not waterproof so in wet weather I have to wear a poncho.

In short, you do not have to buy an expensive trekking bag.

Anniesantiago, My passport, credit card, money, are always with me wherever I go, even to the shower. What I meant when I said that it goes in my backpack is that when walking the trail the clutch goes inside on top of my pack. It's accessible when I stop to buy something, or need to use the facilities :)

Burn Camino!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-

+1 - I did this last year, after using a much larger day bag on the Camino France in 2010. I found the ultra-sil bag quite robust for its weight, and much more convenient for shopping, etc as well as having critical items in one place.

Thanks for the tip Norelle. I have two walks coming up in the next month and as I am always conscious of weight, this is just what I was after. Wish I had one on the Camino.Just ordered one.
Cheers
Grant.
