Pamplona to Santiago in just ONE day - no blisters!

Time of past OR future Camino
A "Tourigrino" trip once Covid has passed, so 2023
Had a lazy day today having spent most of yesterday afternoon in the loft (leaking pipe three days before the Camino - seriously?) and decided to chop up the .gpx file I have into the different stages each one starting at the place we're staying in rather than city or town centres.

Couldn't figure out how to keep just the sections I needed (I was on Google Earth) so ended up tracing each day individually over the track I had. In effect covering every step of the way clicking a mouse instead of walking it.

At first it was a bit tedious but then I suddenly started recognising places I'd been to:

There was the bar that served fantastic tortilla
That's where the lady has a table outside her front door with fruit and chips for passing pilgrims
The road out of Logrono where a friend got lumbered with one of Ignacio's heavy "Pilgrim Staff" concoctions
There's the weird stairway just before Astorga!
The statue at Molinaseca!
Why is that detour there when the obvious route is straight on? (Oh! Lavacolla!)

and I realised why I'm going back to do it again.

If you have time to spare have a try and see what you think.

It sounds like a great way to spend an evening, but I must be missing something . Is there something we can do with the image that you posted?

There's nothing you can do with this particular image. You need to go to Google Earth (download it if you haven't got it). Type in Saint Jean Pied de Port and the earth will spin and take you there. Once you're there, you just zoom in a little bit and then click on the photos along the route. There should be thousands!!!

Perhaps those of us that have photos might want to add to those already there.

You can actually do a virtual walk down streets where there is a blue line down the centre of the road by clicking on the icon of a pedestrian and dragging him to the street you want to "walk" down.

Absolutely hours of fun on a wet day! I now see how Jeff Crawley can do Pamplona to Santiago in one day, I thought he'd got a motorbike!!

No it's purely decorative.
Not exactly a "great" way to spend your time but with just three days short of departure there are only so many times you can pack and repack your rucksack!

I must be doing something wrong. I can find SJPdP but can't see any photos. When I zoom in all I see is a progressively blurry image. Advice?

Please see below.
Your opening view is probably like the one on the left (Windows machine, Mac may be different)
Click on the sideways triangle by "Layers" and a whole world of wonder opens up.
Little squares appear EVERYWHERE. Go to the Praza do Obradoiro and see if you can spot a friend!

"3D Buildings" is fun too!

I was, once, tempted to go by bike (Kawasaki GT750) but it's a long way to ride - 1150 miles from home to SdC.

Google Earth says you can do Pamplona to SdC in 6hrs 30 but you'd have to ride like the late, great Barry Sheene to do so. Unfortunately I ride, or so I am told, like his Grandmother . . .
