Walked Sarria to Santiago in 17, now hope to walk the rest of the caminos over the next few years
I am in the processing of organising a trip to the camino and will walk from Pamplona to Logrono. Can i get a camino passport in Pamplona or should i get one from the Camino office in Ireland before i go?
Thanks in advance
Orla

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Every albergue in Pamplona is likely to have them as it is an important starting point. The Jesus & Maria albergue certainly will. Now, the Irish credencial is very pretty, can be a conversation starter, and by purchaisng it you will be helping finance the Irish Society.

I’m not sure i understand the question about popping into a tourist office but here goes.

You need a credencial (what you refer to as a passport) to stay in albegues and to earn your Compostela. If you are staying in hotels and do not want a Compostela, you don’t need one at all. Also, there is no difference between getting the Irish or Spanish credencial, other than how it looks, either opens doors to albergues and can be shown to receive the Compostela.

As mentioned, you can buy from the Irish Society for 10€ and support their work, or wait and get a Spanish is one of the many albergues or perhaps even at the cathedral in Pamplona for 2 or 3€. Since you will be staying in hotels, no need to worry about finding one as soon as you arrive if for some reason they are not to be found in the albegues. Will the tourist kiosk/office have them? They also sometimes do.

I hope this answers your question.

You have all the advice you need in the previous responses... I agree that by getting your credencial from James’s church you will support them, it is a very nice credencial, and you can get your first stamp there, your second in Guinness... and you’re all set!

Your Camino passport is different than your European or British passport some albergue ask for your national passport or identity card as well as your Camino credential, so have both at hand.
If your staying in hotels your national passport or identity card can be requested by the hotel, they will also stamp your Camino passport if the hotel is on Camino route, hope this helps.
Buen Camino.

Both options are fine ;-) Plus you can get also one from the forum store ;-) No need to stay in an albergue to get a pilgrims passport, in Pamplona, just pass by the albergue Jesus y Maria and they will be happy to issue you one (or more). Buen Camino, SY

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Do you know what time the office closes? I need a pilgrim passport too, but I am arriving in Pamplona from Madrid on Saturday afternoon. I am concerned it will be too late to get a passport, and the next at is Sunday, so perhaps no passport at all until Monday? Thank you! (If I can’t get a passport in Pamplona until Monday, I might stay in Madrid another day or two.)

You will be fine getting it at Jesus y Maria Saturday OR Sunday
