Places to stay in Pamplona during running of the bulls?

I will be doing my first Camino this summer and will be in Pamplona for running of the bulls just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of a good place to stay for a couple nights?

Are you prepared to pay alot of money for a room? That is if there is still a room available? I strongly advice you to do a search for example at Booking.com to give you an idea about availabilty and prices.
Also take into consideration that the main albergue in the city centre will be closed for the reason of these " festivities ".

I hear that pilgrims who like to attend stay just before or after Pamplona and take taxi/ public transport into Pamplona.

It really is madness during those days in Pamplona. If you are open to this then it could be wonderful...
But all in all it is immens and larger than life.
And oh yes people get really drunk and loud. So if you stay in the old quarter a good sleep will be out of the question.

Since Pamplona itself will be madness consider staying in Tiebas which is east of Pamplona on the Argones route. See more re the municipal albergue in Tiebas in this Euroski post.

Just a thought here; Noain is south of Pamplona near the airport but a street bus runs between the two (line 16.) Maybe you could find a place to stay there.

With tongue in cheek I was going to suggest - somewhere about 10 or 15 km East or West. I loved Pamplona - but from what I have seen/read about it during the Running of the Bulls it might be somewhere to avoid. Sorry this is not what you may have wanted to hear. Best of luck. Cheers

It's a private albergue in Pamplona and it's on the right not far after you enter from the city gates. Really cool place, the hospitalero is a helpful guy and I know they cater to visitors for San Fermin and it's gotta be cheaper than a hotel or pensiones at that time.
They have no curfew. You get in and out after hours by a key-pad entry with code. That way you can stay out late partying...if you want to of course. ha ha
If you are going to make reservations in Pamplona at that time, I'd do it ASAP. My understanding is that it's like Mardi Gras here in New Orleans. Hotels start getting reservations for next Mardi Gras the first day after the current Mardi Gras has ended.

We have decided not to go at that time we just booked around our flight and will arrive in Paris June 19 now.

A young relative went to Pamplona especially to see the running of the bulls. He went with an agency which accommodated him in a camping site out of town. Ditto a visit to the Munich Oktoberfest!

Just to give a shout-out for mspath's Tiebas suggestion. It's an albergue that doesn't get much traffic. A couple of years ago, when LTfit and I walked the Aragones, we stopped here to chat with the hospitalero. Tiebas is not on the Frances, but it is an easy bus ride from Pamplona. And my impression was that the hospitalero was open to having pilgrims from whatever Camino they happened to be walking!

This festival runs for 7 DAYS and believe me NIGHTS
The running of the Bulls is very early in the day around 8am

**A few years ago when walking from Le Puy we timed our arrival to the Sunday [ last day] which is the "family" day.
No more Bulls by then
You will get a Hotel on this day but i would think all albergues will still be closed.
It was a wonderful experience "family day " , however you cannot leave early as the streets are still closed with party goers.

Hi Judy, have you ever visited the monkey enclosure at the zoo during feeding time! Of course I don't know your age but your reaction will either be the best time you've ever had or this is an asylum and get me out of here!! You can pretty much assume that all accommodation in the city centre is already gone. I took my teenage kids one year (an innocent unknowing father) and we slept in the car as most places are booked out 5 years in advance. A lot of people just sleep in doorways or whoever they pass out. There are aficionados who have been going every year for 30 years. I don't want to put you off going but 1 million people visit Pamplona for this festival so every resource from food outlets to toilets gets stretched to the limit. I'd strongly suggest that you stay outside and visit for the day. The bulls that run in the morning are then in the bullring that afternoon. I'm not into watching the poor bulls get killed so just watched the bulls enter the arena after their run and was happy to leave. Trying to find a vantage point for the run, without being trampled by people let alone the bulls, is very challenging. Better to go to the arena and you can watch the runners come in followed by the bulls. Other than that, the streets are full of very drunk people who have lost all their inhibitions. I've travelled to many parts of the world but this was an real eye opener (I'll let you fill in the details?). Every night fire trucks come through the town and sluice the streets with water to get rid of whats been left behind from the previous day! It was good to get it off the bucket list but happy not to return. My only suggestion is that if you are travelling alone just keep your whits about you because the issue isn't the locals but drunken tourists.

Sahagun holds a few days of running of the bulls around June 12th. The first day at the bullring it is young men and young bulls teasing each other.

Thank you for your reply we have decided to change our plans and are going to leave earlier , we will miss the running of the bulls, but very excited to walk the Camino, plane tickets bought!
