Hi all,

I am flying from Abu Dhabi for 6 weeks pilgrim-ing/touristing. As such, I will have my backpack plus a suitcase.

Does anyone know if I can organise for my suitcase to be transported from Irun to Santiago, via e.g.: Correos? I don't need my suitcase with me, just to send it on to Santiago to be picked up when I arrive.

Also, is it possible to stay 2 nights in the municipal albergue in Irun? It is looking like I don't touch down in Biarritz/San Sebastian until late afternoon/nighttime after a long day (or couple of days) of travel and would love to have a day to recover from the travel before beginning the Camino. On the albergue's website, it says pilgrims can only stay one night but I am wondering how strictly they enforce this.

Thanks so so much for any insight,
Katie

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Yes, you definitely can do this.
Information is on the Correos site

If it is a municipal they may be strict on the nights especially in a tourist area. Usually they might ask for a doctor's note or some reason other that convenience. Maybe a hotel your first night where you can leave your pack while you sightsee? The albergue will usually want you and your pack out at 8.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Is there much to see in Irun? I walked the Norte and arrived in Irun just as the albergue was opening. All I remember was a park nearby and having trouble finding something to eat.

I stayed Hondarribia, which is a cool old walled city.
