el Correodigital reported on a pilgrimage of about 400 Euskadi pilgrims in Sestao (near Bilbao). Many of the attendees came dressed in their robes of pilgrims, carrying bordóns and scallops.
"We want to recover a tradition that has become a bit into oblivion," said Jesus Lopez, chairman of the grouping.
And, if there was any doubt about the membership of Sestao of the Camino de Santiago, in the gate of the Church of St. Mary there is clear evidence: a scallop, carved in stone, gives the municipality Jacobeo status.
