Rosacea on a Summer Camino?

I've just been diagnosed with Rosacea and am planning a Summer Camino in 2016. Now I'm wondering whether this is a good idea because of the heat and possible flare in symptoms. Have others with this problem walked in Summer?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I don't have rosacea but know others who do. You can try to figure out what triggers it and act accordingly - people react differently. The only camino implications I can think of are possibly red wine (avoid it if necessary) and sunscreen (use it). You have lots of time to determine if summer heat causes an unacceptable flare-up.

Mine flares up with red wine, sun exposure and during physical exertion, so I had a very red face while walking (just from the physical aspect - I used copious amounts of sunscreen and a hat) and on certain evenings (wine). Someone who saw my Facebook photos was very concerned about my "sunburn", and I had to explain that no, this is just me without makeup after walking all morning. Not sure what other symptoms you have, but I'll be walking again this year with the same sunscreen / hat method.....and a rosy face!

Hello Annie G,
I have Rosacea. I don't yet know what the key triggers are (but I do know red wine is not one of them - yippee :D).

What worked for me during my Camino (by that I mean it did not get any worse), was to use the cream I have as normal, wear a wide-brimmed hat and lots of sun cream.

Hope this helps.

Buen (flare-up free) Camino:)

Have you tried Rozex cream? It cured all my symptoms. Great stuff.

Just started it. Takes weeks to work if it does at all. Supposed to be stored under 25 degrees. That might be difficult in Spain.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I have rosacea and get little bumps on my skin during the summer. But somehow never on the Camino. Perhaps because of the wind, fresh air? I don't do anything about it while walking. I have used antibiotics with no effect, metronidazole cream also with no results. Will look into laser this summer.

Maybe I should just move to the Camino!

For me it worked very quickly. And the temperature should be fine if it is buried in your pack.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
