Vinny, there are some ways to keep yourself out of harm's way and also some other ways to find walking partners. Something you might try is going to the women's Facebook site called CAMIGAS. It exists to provide a place for females to learn about and do this with an eye toward women's issues, and they have an active sign-up page and easy ways of communicating back and forth to find others to walk with. It's a closed group, but if they can identify you as a female by your Facebook page, you might have better success doing things that way. Hope that's acceptable to say on this forum.
