When are you leaving? I'm pretty sure that I'd want to have some long pants with me during the fall or winter months.Last year on the Via de la Plata I made sure to bring long pants as I wanted to have them to wear in the cathedral in Santiago and along the way as needed. As many of you know, lots of people wear shorts in the cathedrals and I found myself wearing them also on occasion. I may have misinterpreted but local folks didn't seem to care as long as I was respectful and acted appropriately (no photos where prohibited; quiet; not walking where I wasn't supposed to go etc.)
I am tempted to not bring long pants on my Norte camino this year to save weight. What do those of you who have hiked the Norte think? Will it be ok from a cultural perspective?
Thank you.
That's what I was thinking. It’s not the walking i need trousers for, its the cool evenings at this time of year.

Thank you.
That would seem to fit the profile, wouldn't it?Let me guess, you’re Scottish !

I walked the Norte in June 18. Long pants will be good if you are walking anytime except summer.Last year on the Via de la Plata I made sure to bring long pants as I wanted to have them to wear in the cathedral in Santiago and along the way as needed. Long pants can also be excellent in summer if they are light in colour, light in weight and loose around the legs. They shade the skin. There is a reason many peoples in hot, sunny climates wear long, loose clothing.Long pants will be good if you are walking anytime except summer.
