Sleeping pads for July August

A selection of Camino Jewellery
I have seen pilgrims using sleeping pads in hostels where all the beds were taken.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

The only time I've needed a sleeping mat was walking the last week with a million other pilgrims into Santiago for St James' Feast Day during Holy Year.

We will be walking El Camino the first days of July, flying from NY. Do we need sleeping bags? we want to travel light. Are there albergues that provide sheets?

adridani,

Generally albergues do NOT provide clean bedding for each guest; you carry your bedding with you since albergues usually DO require that you have some sort of personal sleeping sac between you and their bedding. However a sleeping bag would NOT be needed on the Camino Frances in July. A lightweight silk or polyester sleeping BAG LINER would do the job. All large camping stores sell these.

Buen Camino,

MM

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
