Squeaky shoe syndrome

Time of past OR future Camino
St Jean to Pamplona then all the way to Santiago
The right heel of my trusty Merrells has developed a squeak. No obvious sign of a hole or split. Should I put superglue along all the treads?? Just a bit concerned it'll drive me insane when walking in quiet areas (between Pamplona and Burgos next week..)! Any suggestions please?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
It happens, sometimes your shoe is talking to you, sometimes it's your feet screaming. Can be anoying but mostly you just get used to it. I think it's the result of a lot of road walking, my trusty Merrells did the same thing. Unless it's something obvious don't go poking around to fix it, another few 100 kms the other foot will start squeaking, or it will stop. Pack creeks a bit do, as do knees, hips and just about everything else.

You may not even hear it over the crunch crunch crunch of your footsteps ;)
To me that is the 'sound' of the Camino........

In the olden days they said that was a sign that you'd bought the shoes on credit. I wouldn't worry about it. If the bill isn't paid, pay it off pronto! ;-)

Happened the same to me. Boots on sale and only later I get to know what was the problem. One sole was obviously punctured, making sounds in dry weather and pumping in water with each step in rainy conditions. Not a nice discovery while you're already en route. That's why we always suggest to walk in those damn boots/shoes before going on Camino ;)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

They served me fantastically from SJPP to Pamplona in June, my best friends! Only started talking to me in London. Maybe they'll be happier back on the Way tomorrow!

Thanks hel&scott - I'll embrace the conversation and be grateful it's not my feet!

Wish I had bought them on credit Tomnorth - I'd tell the shop to go squeak for the money!!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Looking forward to that familiar sound Robo!

I get squeaks sometimes when using inserts in my shoes. A little talcum powder takes care of it. If you're not using inserts then it probably is the shank inside the shoe and you can't do anything about it. It will eventually wear itself out.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
My squeak was related to orthotics, (AS Jo Ann said re her inserts)
In Spain it did help to put the Blister Shield I was using on my feet under the heel area where the insert appeared to be rubbing on the shoe
(didn't think of talcum!)
