Travel to SJPDP from Paris

Hi All
Travelling from Paris to Bayonne and on to SJPDP with a bicycle. I know I can book a through ticket but the connection time in Bayonne is quite tight. If I miss the connection due to delayed Paris - Bayonne train can I just hop on the next train to SJPDP?

Also, I understand that the train from Bayone to SJPDP is often a bus due to track work. If I have a train ticket on which bicycles would normally be accepted can I be sure the bus will also transport an (unpacked) bike? If not can anyone suggest the best way of getting an unpacked bike to SJPDP from Bayonne?
Thanks

ChrisG1,

When the Paris-Bayonne train is delayed the Bayonne-SJPdP train usually waits for the late arrival.

If you arrive in Bayonne with a ticketed bike and have a problem ask any station employee for help. If all seems impossible go to the station master's office/bureau du chef de gare, show your ticket and ask for help.

In the worst possible situation ie all transport on strike you can always bike the 56 km from Bayonne to SJPdP.

Don't worry about anything you can not control. Just be sure you have a ticket for your bike. Good luck and Buen camino.

When we travelled via train in September, the Bayonne-SJPdP leg was changed to busses, due to a rock slide on the tracks. Two busses handled all the passengers, luggage and bicycles without problems.

And the busses kept to the scheduled arrival time in SJPdP!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Good to know the buses took bicycles. Were they boxed up or assembled?

The bikes were all assembled. One of the bus luggage compartments was dedicated to bikes. They were laid on theirs sides, bikes overlapped, with the handle bars of the top bike laying below the bottom bike's top tube.

Many thanks for that info.
