Hi all :)

I'm planning to walk the Camino Frances starting end of March 2017 and would like to seek your advice please. An option which I'm considering is via Toulouse.

If I chose that option I would land in Toulouse at around 10:00am, then train to SJPdP via Bordeaux and Bayonne, departing at 1300hrs and arriving in St. Jean at around 7:15pm.

Has anyone tried this option and would you recommend it?

Thanks for your help :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Yes -although I took an early train in the morning. From Toulouse there are two train options to Bayonne: direct (by way of Lourdes) or by a connection in Bordeaux (1 extra hour). No big deal, it depends on your arrival to Blagnac airport.
I can see a 12:31 direct train to Bayonne, but schedules can vary.
The airport shuttle ("navette") takes you comfortably from the airport to the train station ("gare") in 20-45 minutes (depending on the traffic).

Toulouse is a very interesting and romantic city. It is worthwhile a day visiting it. It also has an ancient pilgrim tradition (there is a pilgrim's bureau at Saint Sernin basilica -from April 1th to October 31th)). And actually it is in the Arles way; many pilgrims walk from Toulouse to Compostelle.

Thanks Felipe. Very interesting indeed. Much appreciated. I guess I would need to look more into it closer to the date and check the train schedule as at the moment it's too early to show.

I would love a stay in Toulouse, however due to work commitments I have to limit my days off work and on the Camino so cannot afford much travelling time unfortunately. :(

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

You should be able to plan using the existing schedule for the day of the week. The schedule doesn't usually change ... it just gets updated.

Most days ... the last train from Bayonne to SJPdP leaves at 1806. So your aim should be to figure on getting there by that time.

Thanks for the info :)
