Vdlp in January,and February

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, to any forum in fact. I hope I'm writing in the correct area.
I may be doing the Camino by the Vdlp in January and February 2018. What type of terrain will I encounter along the route? How does it compare to the Camino frances in that regard. Any packing ideas?

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Start by going to the Search box in the upper right, and entering "via de la plata february" and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the number of threads there. Several forum members have walked and written about it, so you'll have plenty to read. Then be sure to ask any specific questions you have.

Hi @Amelia J and welcome to the forum!

First as a general remark: there is a huge difference between the Francés and the Vía de la Plata - the number of pilgrims, accommodations and landscape. I suggest you look through the various threads in the Plata section as there is a wealth of information (I see that @C clearly just posted about the search function). Where you have posted is the Live thread for those walking now. I assume that a moderator will move this thread if they deem appropriate.

But to give you my take: you could very well be alone in albergues. I walked in February and there were only 5 leaving on that day from Sevilla. Most of us split within a week. My daughter walked from Sevilla beginning of January and she met no one for a week. As she was only planning to walk that long it didn't bother her. Just a heads-up as not everyone is keen on a solitary Camino.

Although in Spanish the Mundicamino and Gronze websites show stages and terrain as wel as the Godesalco page which also has a stage planner (planificador).

Welcome to the forum.
This is a very good place to gain insight into walking the VdlP in January and February.

LTfit and C clearly have offered some good information. I would look carefully at the first-hand information that LTfit has offered. The VdlP can be a pretty lonely walk at any time...and especially in the early winter months (and hot summer months).
