Walking again, re-starting in Burgos... Advice needed.

Time of past OR future Camino
March/April 2015, Late April 2016, Sept/Oct 2017, April 2019.
On May 3rd, 2017 my younger son and I stopped our second camino at Belorado because of illness. On April 11th, this year, we are planning on re-starting from Burgos (maybe Belorado). My older son, who has never walked the Camino, is going to join us. Here are my questions:

--Can my younger son and I use our credencials from our last walk (2017)? In 2014, we took the train to Santiago from Burgos, and got a stamp at the cathedral there... So.. maybe we should start anew.
--Can we stay at the albergue in Burgos on the day we arrive (really jet-lagged), then take the bus out to Belorado and walk back, staying again at the albergue? (We're flying in from NY, arriving Dublin at midnight, flying RyanAir to Biarritz, 4hr bus to Burgos).
--Should we just walk from Burgos?
--Can my older son, stay at the albergue and then begin his walk? (I have read that the albergues in Burgos want proof of walking before you can stay the night.) We hope to stay at La Casa del Cubo or at Divina Pastora.
--And how crazy crowded are Burgos and Leon going to be during Holy Week?

Advice, insight and thoughts are welcome!

thanks,

Kate

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Not sure of your budget, but this is me

I’ve had a 6 hour wait for my flight between airport checkout and flight departure. Currently waiting to board.

I then have a 16 hour flight to Doha, a 2 hour wait, then another 7 hours to Madrid. 4 hour wait for bus and then several hours on a bus to Logroño.

I have, thankfully in my eyes, booked a hotel for my first night so i can get a decent sleep and get myself ready to ‘go’ the next morning

Whilst i would feel out of place being jetlagged in an alberque on my arrival night, the hotel is a much more sane and convenient option for me. I will use Alberque’s all the way though except one or two nights perhaps

Depends how far you have to travel before arriving in Burgos i guess

I would definitely book a place in Burgos, as I arrived on a Sat afternoon in September and had no where to stay. I ended up in the campground, which was wonderful w/great facilities, but as I was starting out from here, it was a little nerve racking, not having a place to stay my first night. As the earlier post suggests, I would also stay in an inexpensive hotel for the first night and book it before you leave. Makes me want to walk again also, I went with my son 3 yrs ago and couldn't finish and had to bus a few legs to get to Santiago, but it was an amazing experience! Blessings and be safe

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
