Time of past OR future Camino
I plan to walk Camino Frances in August 2015
Hi,

I am going to walk the full Camino Frances in mid August this year, exact date unconfirmed as yet. Is anyone else walking solo around this time? It would be good to walk with other people to learn the basics of the way. I am also terrible with languages although I have been trying.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
There seems to be a lingua franca of the Camino..from reading the posts of those whove gone before.
My Camino is 15 or so months coming
Be of good heart and know the road will provide

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I'm leaving St. Jean Aug 8th and taking my sweet time to get to Santiago (two months). So I'll probably see you somewhere along the route. I've traveled a bit for both work and play and wouldn't worry too much about the language. There is always a way to communicate. Haven't missed a meal yet :) :) :)

Hi John , you have plenty of time to visit places and when everything is going well mabe you can walk to Finisterre aswell. It's a nice walk and Finisterre is nice to. You will learn some Spanish along the way. Wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Regarding learning Spanish, I can highly recommend the courses by Michel Thomas. I have found his method by a long way the most straightforward and logical and there is no home work or writing or books, it's about "having a go" and getting understood rather than the fear of having to be correct and not make a mistake, which is something that stymied my own language learning for years. I think most of the first course is on YouTube but again a used copy can be found on eBay or Amazon quite reasonably. You just listen and repeat and honestly if I can do it anyone can! You'll probably want the minimum of the first 2 CDs worth aka the introductory course or if you're feeling confident the 8 CD course could easily be done between now and Aug, just listen on your commute or lunch time etc. (And no I don't work for them!)
Here's the YouTube link (and check out his wig!!!!)

I started using the online website Fluencia.com at the beginning of January, knowing then about 10 words of Spanish, and I've stuck with it almost every day since. I love it! It's very addictive, makes it easy to learn a bit every day. Buen suerte para estudiando espanol! (Okay, maybe that's not how a real Spanish speaker would say it....)

Just tried Fluency. Fun, Loved it!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

There is a woman that is from Barcelona living in Msla that does private lessons. Helped a lot before I left more importantly she shared some cultural info that was invaluable.
Private message me I can give you her contact info.
