Hey guys! Starting from st jean on the 20th october, wondering weather rain ponchos are easy to buy over there. Can't seem to get one between now and departure. I've got rain jacket, pack cover and getting some rain pants but wanting one poncho to go over backpack also. Any recommendations?

In SJPdP Direction Compostelle/Boutique du Pelerin is a good convenient place for hiking equipment . Here is their web.

Another good shop is

Their web is presently being renovated.

If you plan to buy a poncho, you can leave the reain jacket at home ;-) Buen Camino, SY

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
If you have rain jacket, pants and pack cover why do you need a poncho?
I'm not against them, but one type of wet weather gear will suffice.

In warmer months, a poncho alone would suffice. But, seeing you're not starting until Oct 20, which makes your arrival in Santiago at the end of November, extra protection might very well be welcome. Pack covers do not protect against all rain.

I took a rain jacket, pack cover, and poncho and was very glad to have all three.

Some days it was rainy but too warm for the rain jacket, so I used the poncho. Other days it was cold and rainy, so the rain jacket and pack cover was great. And SOME days it was cold and REALLY rainy so I was happy to have the rain jacket, pack cover, and the poncho together - without the poncho, the rain running down my back would have soaked my pack, and even with all my stuff packed within a trashbag inside my pack, it was nice not to carry a sopping pack. I'd say we had about 5 days of heavy enough rain that I used the poncho and rain jacket together.
