Where is an inexpensive, safe, and close to city center hostel to stay for 2 nights in Paris ?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Check out these Paris suggestions from Hostelworld.com. The trendy newest favorite is The Loft but there are many other possibilities.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Hotel du Mont Blanc - a little noisy but fantastic location: metro St Michel, Latin Quarter, Notre Dame Cathedral, friendly personnel, lots of ambience. Grocery store and internet cage nearby too! www.montblancparis.com We have stayed there several times.

I always stay at Maubuisson which is in the heart of Paris just across from Ile St-Louis. It is a hostel owned by the French government in a beautifully restored mideval building--private, double and very nice dorm rooms. It is a couple of blocks from the Tour de St Jacques and across the street from St Gervais, the church used by the monastic fraternity of Jerusalem which has beautiful Offices. The French government owns three beautiful hostels in the same neighborhood. Maubuisson is my favorite. Foucey is also nice--all three are but those are my two favorites. There is an easy bus stop to the train station for SJPP. Here is the website:

Thanks for that tip. I always prefer the public run hostels... Did you stay in a dorm? Truth be told, I've traveled all over the world, this is my first trip to Paris though I've been in France before, I'm a little intimidated. As an American I have heard such terrible things about Parisians.

Obinjatoo,

Take a deep breath, relax and just enjoy it! I, too, am an American who has lived close to 35 years in France both in Paris and Champagne. Even after all those years for me as Thomas Jefferson said “a walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of life.”

Carpe Diem,

I stayed here. Only 2 miles from the airport and there is a free shuttle to it and free shuttle back to the airport. I think there is a bus station near it if you want to go out and explore Paris. I was not there long enough to do so.
It's a nice little hotel. It's clean and cheap. I booked it through booking.com.
