Wine Harvest Festival in Logrono Sept 17-23, 2017

Hi. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere on the forum for this year so thought I'd mention it. There is a Wine Festival in Logrono from Sept 16-23. (It starts the 16th, I was incorrect in the title of this thread). Might be worth planning a stop for those who will be walking in September (like me).

More information can be found here: https://lariojaturismo.com/en/commu...-riojana/32446e89-f1c0-4936-9a26-5299321d6ae4

I did notice that the dates mentioned on the website seem to be different then what I have. I emailed the Tourism Office of the La Rioja region and they are the ones who stated that the festival this year is from the 16th - 23rd. (The festival starts on the first Saturday before Sept. 21 every year.)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I accidentally stayed in Logrono during the festival in 2014. Terrible crowds, couldn't even walk up the tapa's lane. We eventually found a little tavern to hang out in not far from the cathedral and watch football so we could hear ourselves think! I am a wine drinker, live in wine country but this was crazy!

Have to side with Great Dane, another option, the Haro Wine Festival falls June 28-30, just as boisterous, more fun and better wine and includes a very messy wine fight. Attend at your own risk! 40k off the Camino Francés, waymarked from Haro to Logroño and easily accessed by bus.

Chanced to walk into Logrono in 2012, at the height of the wine festival. A mob scene -- but had no trouble getting a bed, and found the whole business fascinating. Spaniards know how to party!

IMHO Logrono's the most under-appreciated city on the Camino. It offers more than just tapas! And if you venture beyond the Parque Espolon into the "modern" neighborhoods, it looks and feels a lot like the Mexico City I grew up in in the '60s.

Started my 2015 walk in Logrono, and will pass through it again in just a few weeks.
