Xunta to spend €2 million on various routes

Mainly on Portugues and Primitivo, but also the other routes in Galicia. Seems to be primarily for restoration/renovation of historic monuments along the routes, for example, on the Primitivo, the Tower in Castroverde and Lugo's walls.

Lugo Wall

If any pilgrim has a day to spare it is well worth spending a day in Lugo just to see the walled old city.
When we were there 2 years ago we gave a small donation - just a couple of Euro - to the Amigos de la Muralla - who in turn gave us a numbered certificate showing that we had supported the restoration of the wall. They say that over 650 000 people walked parts of the caminos in 2004. Just imagine if all pilgrims gave a small donation, say E2 each, towards the restoration of the monuments along the way, they would have contributed E1.3m in 2004!
