Hi Brian, as already stated by Wayfarer it is very safe and no problems with refugees. They coming in our direction namely Germany, Holland and further north. How safe is the Camino Frances over the last few months? Has the refugee crisis affected it's safety at all?
You are so right , wish you well , Peter.Thinking about all these empty beds, empty albergues, and all those people in camps. Makes one grateful for whatever we are offered on our Caminos.

...recently whilst heading south along der Ochsenweg refugees were sleeping in places where pilgrims occassionally rest: Caritas, communal buildings, railway stations. In Itzehoe refugees were also sheltering at the Pilger Herberge. I slept on a floor .

...hmmm, you're absolutely right. Der Ochsenweg which runs between Flensburg and Itzehoe coincides with a signed Jocobsweg to Santiago d C. It's only a hop-step-and-a-jump from Itzehoe to St John PDP and the Camino Frances.Yes, but I think you were in Germany and the OP was asking about the Camino Frances ;-) Buen Camino! SY
