Camino Frances October 23
My first attempt at walking the Camino Frances was cut short in Sept 2023 due to injury. Now that I've fully recovered I'm arriving in Madrid on 16th April and then taking a bus back to Logrono and Estella to begin my 2nd Camino attempt on the 17th April. I'm looking forward to be on the Camino again.
My Question: I've been looking for hostel accommodation with private rooms in Madrid around Plaza Major or Atocha Station and am hoping for some suggestions pls. After the Camino a friend is meeting me in Madrid and we are going to travel south to visit Cordoba, Ronda, and Gibraltar. It's a bloody long way from Australia to Europe so I figure I might as well make the most of this trip☺

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Hi. I’m picking up my camino, too. flying in Madrid, staying the night and proceeding to Pamplona next morning on train. I have booked Hostel Siesta & Go (Atocha) via Booking. Looked like a good option. We’ll see 😀. Buen camino

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
The Hat is great - right around the corner from Plaza Mayor.
Very close to The Hat (one minute walk) is the Hostel La Macarena which is a little more expensive. I've stayed at both.

I've stayed at OK Hostel a dozen times, and hope for a dozen more. The dormitories are super clean and their private rooms are great. Fantastic 24 hour staff. They have a convenient luggage storage room. Not far from Plaza Mayor. 2 km from Atocha. Easy walk. Buen Camino

Hello, I was in Madrid a week ago after my Camino and I stayed at Hostal Abaaly, great location, comfortable bed and clean.

It's not a Hostal, but not expensive, and directly across from the Atocha Station. Hotel Mediodia.
Big, clean, small rooms, great breakfast. Next to the "fried squid-sandwich" place ;)

I stayed last June at OK Hostel for one night. It was a nice easy walk to Atocha the next morning. Liked it so much i'am staying for 3 nights in June at the end of my Camino this year.

A very cool pod hotel place about 3 blocks from Atocha Station. Service desk 24 hours per day. Very clean, quiet. Near a laundromat and grocery store and many bars and restaurants. Lockers for your belongings and locking pods for you to sleep in. Be warned that while I loved this place, my husband did not. He felt cramped.

I stayed at Hostal Persal for four nights following my Camino two years ago and will be returning to stay again after my upcoming Camino in June. It's centrally located on a lively small square between Plaza Mayor and Atocha (and not far from Sol), and my lovely single room had a small balcony, air conditioning, and a private bathroom — and cost ca. €65/night, including an excellent buffet breakfast. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much everyone. I'm sure I'll find a suitable room from your suggestions. This forum is a wonderful😃

SLEEP'N Atocha is a 2 star hotel within walking distance of the train station and opposite the hotel mediodia. I stayed there and thought it good value and if you have to leave early they give you a paper bag with breakfast in it to take away on request. Modern and clean and friendly staff.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
If you have an early morning departure from (or very late arrival in) Madrid then I found Hostelfly highly satisfactory.

It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from Terminal 2 or 3. A bit further from 4 (but there’s a shuttle).

It does away with the timing vagaries and expense of a cab.

There’s a convenient metro station Barajas close by.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I will try to find their phone number. A direct call may get you a better rate and a free great breakfast. Must be “high season “ in Madrid. Buen Camino
