Baggage Transfer

Some but not all, and other routes too.
Good Morning Pilgrims wherever you are. My question revolves around baggage transfer along the CF.
My plan is to leave in mid September 2024 (busy time I know), I will be travelling with an 83 year old lady, who I have to say is reasonable fit (but needs to go into training mode) On my last CF I carried my own backpack, which I intend to do this time (I'll be 76) but I've advised my 83 year old companion to use baggage transfer.
My questions is; do all Albergues accept baggage transfer?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

There are very few that you can’t send a bag forward. These are mostly municipals, but usually the bag transport company will arrange to a nearby bar if possible. There is a movement to not allow suitcases, along with the 11 in Galicia, there are others that are joining this movement. It’s not surprising to me, as the number of large suitcases exploded this year; mostly with the tour groups. The bag services are generally aware of where they can and can’t send forward a bag.

@Waka, its good to see you back planning another pilgrimage. There have been some significant changes to how some albergues will handle luggage over the past few years at the same time as availability of pack transport has improved. The CSJ albergues were always for pilgrims who walked with their own packs, but now there is another association that has stopped accepting suitcases from pack transport companies. Someone might have been able to detect a general rule, but I haven't. The result is that it is best to check with the albergues themselves if you are not using private albergues, casa rural, hostels, etc.

ps, as @Susan Peacock says, the transport companies should know if a place won't accept bags or just not accept suitcases, and be able to tell you if they cannot deliver to a certain place.

My husband & I ( 76 & 79) completed our 3rd CF this June. We Used Caminofacil company to transfer our large duffle style bags with great success. Pre booked & prepaid worry free Camino! Because we on travel post Camino it’s imperative for us to have luggage transfers.
Next June 2024 we’re doing Camino Del Norte from San Sebastián to Bilbao, so a little bit anxious luggage transfer companies on that walk 😬. Buen Camino

@AMALFI thank you for the info, I've never been involved with luggage trans
for before, or come to that booking accommodation in advance. I thought it would have been nice for all the Albergues (except Municipals) to have a little icon indicating that they do except transfers, but I can't find anything. I'm a long way from starting (September) but it doesn't hurt to plan early especially for my companion.
I'll take a look at caminofacil.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
