Credencial alternatives

Time of past OR future Camino
2016
I arrived in Porto today and went to the cathedral to obtain a credencial. However, the gentleman at the table immediately to your right as you enter the cathedral said he was out of them. He wasn't sure if they'd get more tomorrow.

Is there somewhere else I can get a credencial between Porto and Santiago? Can I get stamps on a blank sheet of paper in the meantime?

Hola - I'm not sure if there is an alternative source in Oporto. Ask at the Tourist Office which is next to the cathedral. You will be able to get a credencial at some of the albergues along the route - but in the interim just buy a small note book and collect the stamps (with dates) I am sure this will be accepted by the albergues.

Buen camino

Maybe our forum member @Diogo92 would know more. As I remember he works in a hotel in Porto (???). Try to PM him.

Bom caminho!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Somebody called? :p

@seth from somewhere, you can buy your Credencial in Barcelos, in the Albergue Cidade de Barcelos (http://www.alberguedebarcelos.com/) or in the one from Ponte de Lima. Unless you have a day off in Porto, you could always catch a train to Braga, and buy your Credencial in their Cathedral. Buy I think that the best it's to buy in the Albergues.

@KinkyOne, your information is half-correct, it's not in Porto, but in Lisbon :D

Best Regards
Diogo
