Editing of posts turned off?

I've made a couple of posts this morning. I wanted to add a few words to one of them and discovered that there is no option to edit the post. Is this a temporary glitch or a permanent change? Or am I missing something glaring obvious?

I just made a test and it works for me. Edit was available on the menu, brought up the old text, changed a punctuation mark, saved, and saw that the edit took affect.

Edit: This was with an Android smartphone and the Chrome browser. And, if it makes a difference, I'm a donating member.

If you tap Report beneath your text the possibility to Edit or Delete should pop up.

Not for me. Using a laptop running Windows 10 and Chrome browser. Clicking on Report only opens the reporting text box. No edit or delete option.

Just tried using Edge as a browser. Still no option to edit or delete.

The second line was an edit. I am using safari on a MacBook air, running 12.7.4.

Just tried on an Android phone with no success. So not linked to the device or operating system. I'm assuming it is an issue with the forum software and some member accounts. One for @ivar I think!

I’ve noticed that there is a time constraint on how long the Edit option is available. Don’t know how long it is but i do know that the edit option is not available forever.

Nope....my delete and edit options are no longer there. Only a report option which brings up the report box.

Unfortunately, this is above the moderators’ pay grade, so we will have to wait till Ivar is around. I would not be surprised if it has something to do with what @Antnix1 suggested and yesterday’s barrage of spam.

I have just tried over on the 'Little sculptures' thread. Photo and text posted ok and text then edited with no problem. Using Ubuntu (Linux) with Chromium (=Chrome) browser on a laptop.
For the photo - for some time I have had to click on 'insert image' then the 'drop here' rectangle to choose and upload the photo. Also because I prefer to put up thumbnails I go to 'insert thumbnail' and then 'bin' the full photo which has gone into the post automatically. Hope that helps

My .02: Edit function has disappeared for me using Safari 17.1 on my desktop and iOS 17.4.1 on my phone — pretty sure it was still available as recently as this past weekend. (It's disappeared in the dedicated forum app as well, though I most often browse and post here via web browser.)
