Cheers Steve

they never answer emails. I wrote them in December to get a room for March. Not even a single reply. You can see similar experiences when you check them om Gronze. I just walked past that village and stayed in the next.

I couldn’t get accommodation late March, i put it down to being semana santa so had booked 2 nights in Monesterio and planned to walk from Monesterio to Fuente then get the afternoon Alsa bus back to Monesterio, returning by bus the next morning to Fuente for the walk to Zafra. In the end the weather and floods made both routes impassible so had two nights in Monesterio and bussed to Zafra. Some pilgrims have been staying at Calzadilla de los Barros, a little further on than Fuente.

Thanks @WildPlace, our plan is walk to Calzdilla and bypass Fuente. Which bus line did you use in case I need that option? It did rain today but not compared to march down pour
Cheers Steve

In Spain many places prefer to do business by phone, so try that before discounting anywhere if you have the inclination.

I stayed in Calzadilla de los Barros. A nice big municipal with a washing machine. Make sure to get the key at the Ayuntamiento before hiking up the hill to it.

Hostel San Vicentein Fuentes is still open.

If you stay in Fuentes have a meal at resten Gato. Excellent food and very friendly people

La Fabrica didnt reply to calls/whatsapp or mail the last week of March ( semana santa).
Is often very difficult to reach I heard.

If you want to take a bus from monesterio to fuentes/calzadilla/zafra you can choose a local bus or Alsa bus.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

That is what I did when I walked. It is an additional 6k but it is not a difficult walk. I stayed here and it was very good.

I did the same. We had a quick pub afternoon it to eat and then just rocked up to the Albergue. The Mayor and let us in and afterwards we headded down to the pub for dinner as a group. Was a crazy day, we all sort of bonded over the tornado. edit- added some km markers from the way.

Hi Sandra, I did hear more blue mountain people were nearby. I walked with Lucie, who mentioned your name, from Fuente to Calzadilla and I have just arrived in Zafra. Are you on WhatsApp?
I’m from Blackheath, cheers Steve
