Getting Back to Paris

Walking Jun 29 - Aug 18, 2018. If we get done early, we'll tour Spain by rail
I am starting to wonder how to get back to Paris for a flight returning to the US on August 24. We have booked an Air BnB for 4 days in Santiago. I was looking on line and don't think we can get a teain all the way back. Flying might be an option. Asking for suggestions. Much appreciated.

hi Annie, last year, at the suggestion of the (French) Société des Amies de St Jacques, we took a bus from Santiago to Porto, about a 3-hour ride as I recall, and from there flew back to Paris (on Ryanair I think). It worked well.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I saw an evening flight from Santiago to CDG direct for about $100.00. The transport to Santiago airport by bus seems to be about 45 minutes and $10.00. Good luck. Buen Camino!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

If one has time and has never been to Porto or wanted to re-visit Porto again, it could be a desirable option :)
Yes, I was going to mention that, too, if she takes a bus from Santiago to Porto first, she will have a hard time dragging herself away from that beautiful city! She needs 2-3 days to "take it all in" before flying back to Paris, IMO.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Book direct with Renfe SdC- Paris via Madrid and Barcelona. Suggest a night in Madrid and aprox 11 hrs from there to Paris with a short change at Barcelona. Great way to see the country, even at 300 kp/h.

Just search a "make-up" date (Tue, July 17) for a coach from SDC to Porto in the ALSA site, www.alsa.com. It shows the prices and schedule. It has one coach leaving at 10:00 in the morning arriving Porto at 13:35. Another one leaving at 17:30 and arriving at 21:05.

Fly. It is an easy 1.5 hr flight.

If you like traveling by train, (I love it :)) you can get a train from SdC to Pamploma and another on to Bordeaux, via Irun/Hendaye, and go from there to Paris. We did this, but broke our journey at Bordeaux, to visit relatives, before travelling on to Paris. (I think the train went all the way to Paris.)

We also stayed overnight in Pamploma ... it was a bonus to have time there, without the need to do our daily Camino washing etc. :)
We did have to get off the train for a very short walk from Irun to Hendaye .... but it wasn’t a big deal.

PS this is the slow train ;) ... not the 300 kph one!

Hi there,
I am starting from Irún on 11June 2019, leaving from Paris.
I want to take a train rather than fly ( Biarritz or Bilbao)
Which services did you make use of and approximate cost ?

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
Train from Montparnasse to Hendaye costing between $110 and $145. Four or five trains a day.

Train from Montparnasse to Hendaye costing between $110 and $145. Four or five trains a day.
Thank you falcon269 ...is that with SNCF service ?
Would it be cheaper to book the tickets in advance ?

www.vueling.es used to have a direct flight from Santiago. Not sure if they still do, but might be worth looking into

Hi, i booked this flight with Vueling from Santiago to Paris .. just some questions:
1) did you pay extra for your pack, even if it was less the 10Kg?
2)are they fairly reliable as i have a connecting flight from CDG 2hours 20min later
