I wouldn't worry too much about meeting people beforehand as you will meet plenty of other people in July/ August. But as you are from England, have you looked at the events organized by the Confraternity St. James http://www.csj.org.uk/ ? They do offer free pilgrim preparation days in spring and other events that might be interesting for you. Buen Camino! SY
