Good news for older peregrinos

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I think that keeping yourself engaged and with a degree of interpersonal conflict (friendly fire hopefully) plus a necessary minimum of physical activity (not necessarily work-outs) is key ; trying to avoid too many carbs and vegetable oils and cereals does help too, especially as you do start to get a bit more elderly, even though this is still a pretty contentious and fairly new area of study, with no magic bullet one-size remedy for all.

Try and avoid getting into an avoidable rut --routines and good habits are an absolute must, not suggesting any otherwise, but it's never breaking them is what to avoid.

Never let anyone else ever take control of your life !!! And no good husband or wife would ever even attempt it ... but kids these days, well, love them to bits, but always be wary

And yes --- walk the way of Saint James ; though this is great advice no matter how young or old you may be

Some good responses there @JabbaPapa
I particularly noticed the last bit about our kids, lol

I also find the brain training we’re giving ourselves if trying to improve our Spanish (and/or other) language is quite a benefit too.

Many thanks for sharing that. Nothing new really in the research but it confirms what others have been saying for a while. Since starting my training for my first camino I have noticed significant differences in my health.. and I have been a member of various health clubs for years. It is the walking that has made the difference. It seems the benefits of the camino start even before arriving in France/ Spain or wherever.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Since I finished the Frances in October, I've been walking pretty much daily, but not enough...I'm gaining weight again (some must have settled in my brain too!)
So, I walked further. Voila! Mentally and physically the benefit was immediate.
Four to five miles didn't cut it for me. But, six+ did the trick!
Walk long and prosper!

I am planning on returning May 2020, I enjoyed the Camino March 27- May 06, 2018... then bounced all over Spain! What a blast I had

Hi all, I’m starting my Camino Frances on May 12. I’ve booked my first night in SJPDP, but I’m starting to worry I need to book more. My plan was to take it day by day and just turn up, but lots...
Hello all. Here to give a brief account of my (and many others) first day on the Camino on May 1. The trip to Roncesvalles was tough. I went Valcarlos route because napoleon was very ill advised...
Seems to be a lot of people posting about stuff they lost on the Camino recently. I managed to leave a nice new-ish polo shirt somewhere drying and didn't notice for over a week. I hope someone...
Did you meet Bjørn Krohn? Died aged 48 in an albergue, I don't know where, tuesday 21th. I didn't know this until now.
I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
Can anyone tell me if food is available there… anyone stayed recently? Cheers
