Is Roncesvalles Closed Jan 2017?

Pamplona to Logrono (May 2016), St Jean Pied de Port (June 2017), Logrono to Burgos (Sept 2017)
Hi all, Shona from Ireland. Having completed 100km last May from Pamplona to Logrono .. I've got the bug!! What a wonderful experience we had. Working full time, myself and a pal plan to complete the Way of St James in stages over time - perhaps twice a year. We're going back to the start JSPD (to do stage 1) in June and have accommodation booked on the way but despite several emails can't get a response from Hotel Roncesvalles or Casa Sabina in Roncesvalles. Neither of us speak Spanish and therefore don't understand what the message on the answering says. Does anyone know if this town has been closed over the winter and when it is likely to open for bookings? Neither websites show an option to book and it's a twin room rather than an albergue we are looking to book.
Many thanks

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Lol, first of all - Roncesvalles isn't a town ;-) It is a collegiata (kind of monastery) with a few buildings around it. The albergue there is open all year round, so you can just turn up ;-) especially in January! If you post the message you have received here, we Spanish speakers will give you a hand with translations ;-) Also keep your eyes continuously on http://www.aprinca.com/alberguesinvierno/ regarding open/closed albergues in winter!

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The albergue will be open.

It's still early in the new year. They may still be closed for the holidays.

SY, Anemone, I think the OP is trying to book a hotel room for a date in June. I don't suppose either of the hotels will open until Holy Week or the run up.

For the OP. Both establishments are closed at present. Neither are likely to open for business until March or later. Try again much closer to your travel time. Except during major Spanish holidays Roncevalles sees very little traffic other than Pilgrims heading for the Albergue.

La Posada is another hotel in Roncesvalles. I just looked at their website - laposada.roncesvalles.es- and it appears that you could book a room there for June, if you want to get this done right now. When I tried to book the Roncesvalles Hotel (which is a beautiful hotel) they have closed the reservations area by showing all rooms are booked. This just means that they haven't opened up the rooms for booking as yet.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Great, much appreciated. That makes sense. I'll note to contact them around Holy Week. Thanks for the quick responses.
