I saw this post on the American Pilgrims of the Camino Facebook page this morning, I hope the author (Andy Byers) doesn't mind my sharing it:

"As information to all of you pilgrims starting soon. I have been in the albergue in Nájera volunteering for a week. IT IS COLD! Today the high will be 50 degrees at night it can be below freezing. You might want to consider a sleeping bag. Many Albergue's have eliminated blankets due to bed bug issues. We do not offer them. Although we do keep the heat on it is still cold at night. All of that being said it is still beautiful. Buen Camino."

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I completely understand the reason for not offering blankets anymore. Last summer in albergue in Sta.Marta de Tera (on Levante) a huge pile of blankets in one of the dormitories was the reason we got biten by bedbugs. People in other dormitory without blankets slept really well.

some of the smaller allergies do have blankets because they can handle the bed bug issue daily...the municipals never do so at least bring a liner / sleeping bag

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I guess "allergies" in your post is a typo but quite appropriate in this topic :D

Agree with your statement. I can't remember any private albergue on several Caminos with blankets "exposed"/piled in one place. Usually they keep them somewhere else and you can get one on request. Much safer regarding bedbugs IMO.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
