wondering what the availability of ponchos is like in sjpd? and approx how much do they cost to purchase there.
thank you

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
You might want to try online first (although you may have considered it already). I purchased my Ferrino poncho online. When I got to SJPDP I stopped at the store (which is a very good store, with very good service, but really retail prices), it was much more expensive. Not complaining about the store. They carry a lot of stuff and you pay for the convenience and selection. But a few bucks (euros) pay for a couple of meals :) :)

My 2 cents would be to purchase as much as possible online and then use the store to pick up what you forgot to bring (there is always something).

Currently on the Camino buy before you go. Very limited availabilityof anything in SJPDP

You can order in advance from the boutique du pelerin and pay when you collect, as I did.. The shop is just a few yards across from the Pilgrims Office and the owner is very helpful.

Bought mine from a farmers shop somewhere on the Frances about 7 years ago. It cost 10 euros! :))
As an FYI, there is a great sports store in Pamplona called Caminoteca (very pilgrim friendly) that (used to) stock the Spanish Altus brand poncho. Not sure if they still do. . . .anyone ??
If you go onto their website you can now walk around the shop in Google!

And look at what they have to the left of the umbrellas!

For those of you who have never been to Caminoteca (Pamplona) here's a sample of what they sell - I have no connection with the store other than being a satisfied customer.
