How to add your own avatar

[edit: This post has been re-written to reflect the new forum software. Because of this, some of the responses below might be to the earlier version of this post]

Here is how you add a photo/image that shows up by each posts you make in the forum.

This could be a photo of you, but does not need to be. It could also be a flower, a photo from your walks... anything you want. It will be displayed over your username, next to all the postings you make in the forum.

1) Go to your User Control Panel here:
http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/account/personal-details

2) Look for "Avatar", click the button there to upload an image from your computer. It should be at least 200x200 pixels in size.

I hope this helps :)

Un saludo,
Ivar

Every time I try to upload a photo, it tells me it's the wrong size ! Any ideas on how I can do this ?,thank you.

Hi William, for the avatar. The picture I've used is a generic one that you can just pick off the forum. I'd like to use a personal one. Thanks , Helen

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
For the avatar the photo must have maximum dimensions of:
width: 150 pixels
height: 150 pixels
file size: 49kB

It is usually best as the picture is so small to have a simple image as when shrunk to that size any large detailed photo will not work.

ok,thank you. I will need to work out how to shrink it !

On a PC this can be done by opening the picture with whatever program works Microsoft Office Picture Manager is common and then editing the picture by resizing down to the required size. Save the new size picture under a new name so you do not alter the original.

If you are on Apple I cannot help you.

I'm afraid it is Apple :( Think I will need to find a Mac user to help.
But thank you very much anyway.

Attaching a profile photo

Can anyone tell me how I attach a photo to my username in my profile? Thanks

Re: Attaching a profile photo

Hola walker007, You need to go to Control panel -> profile -> edit avatar. The photo needs to be quite small to fit. Mine is only 150pixels x 150pixels and 49kb. I think it will accept larger images, but try and see how it works.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
