Sarria to Santiago

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Anyone currently walking or will be Sarria to Santiago?
Good ☺️ Morning S Wright and welcome to the forum.I returned on Tuesday of this week from walking Sarria to Santiago with 2 friends .It was their first time on the Camino.
Our stages were
Sarria - Portomarin. Albergues in between closed.
Portomarin - Palas de Rei - Melide another option
Palas de Rei- Arzua
Arzua - O' Pedrouzo
O'Pedrouzo- Santago
We stayed in Hotels and Pensions.Everyone must wear a mask passing through all the towns and villages but not in open countryside. We were warmly welcomed wherever we went.We were highly impressed by the high level of compliance to Covid regulations. It is compulsory to hand sanitize when entering any establishment. Our temperature was taken on arrival at one pension.
There were fewer pilgrims on the way but we met Canadians,French ,English and of course many Spanish , including a couple with a baby. There was a great camaraderie amongst us all.
As on all caminos we kept meeting the same people who were doing the same stages as us.I was sad to see the impact of Covid 19 on the smaller albergues in between the above stages ,in particular ,Casa Morgade where I stayed last year.
The Gronze Website ,Camino Frances is a great source of information.
We had a lovely camino and I am sure you will as well. The icing on the cake was when we went to see Ivar in Santiago.
Buen Camino

Hola ,

Thank you so much for all the info ! I really appreciate it . I did this stage of the walk 2 years ago with my husband and loved every minute.

Since COVID and losing my job etc my mental health has suffered and I want to re trace my steps to help me regain some clarity on life , however this time I’m doing it alone . So this info has given me some confidence that it will be ok and that others will Also be walking given the lateness in the year .

I leave next Tuesday.

Thank you again 😊 xxx

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

It will do you the world of good, that's for sure. This is the first time I have walked a Camino accompanied by 2 friends. All the others I started alone. My friends loved it.It
surpassed all their expectations. They were doing it in memory of a friend ,since dead, who had walked this part of the Camino . They picked this week as the anniversary of her death fell within this period.I was their guide.
One of the pilgrims ,from the UK,was a first timer and he was carrying the ashes of his dead wife to Finisterre.A very emotional time for him.
Sending you best wishes 🙂 for your Camino
and for the future ☺️
Buen Camino

You WILL enjoy this walk all over again and you WILL get the clarity on life that you are seeking! My friend and I did this stage last year and enjoyed every minute. Sad to read that the Casa Morgade is not currently open as it was a great stopping point!
I feel quite envious of you and wish you a Buen Camino🙏

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
If things are still a little fuzzy when you get to Santiago keep walking. Maybe albergues are open to allow your O’Neal’s to Muxia and Finisterra. That is if you can of course.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Thank you for your kind message . I have allowed extra days for this so if I still feel “fuzzy” as you put it (great word for it btw) I will continue onwards to the little lighthouse .
Thanks again x

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thank you for your kind message . Maybe I can post updates to all the people who were kind enough to reply to me . I may be a little lonely . However it’s much needed . X

I have walked Le Puy and the Norte and CF in winter. There were long stretches especially on the second half of the Norte and all through France where I did not see more than one or two pilgrims and often none all day. Walking in your own rhythm, without any sounds except nature and the camino under your feet really gives you an opportunity to free your mind and spirit and realize you are fine just the way you are at that exact moment. You also have to get to that point to break through to that freedom and you have no one and nothing to deal with but yourself. You realize we all have a choice. We can either free ourselves of our bulls$*t and problems and let it eat us up. Or we can really let go and experience the true feeling of freedom.
