Start of the Camino in Lisbon

Got here a couple of days early to get over the jet lag. Figured I’d walk over to the Lisbon Cathedral to see where the start of the Camino is. This has got to be the most unannounced start anywhere. The arrow is located at the bottom of the rightmost pillar of the cathedral. It’s about 5 inches tall.

At least the direction is correct :)

A selection of Camino Jewellery
Same as the start of Levante at Valencia Cathedral (in attachment).

On Camino de Madrid if you start at Iglesia de Santiago y de San Juan the first yellow arrow is after approx. 6,5km at Plaza de Castilla ;)

Ah, the memories! Bom caminho, John. Are you planning to spend your first night in the Via Lusitana albergue in Alpriate? IMO, the best way to start out from Lisbon.
Keep in touch, would love to hear how it goes for you.

The arrows do get a lot bigger! But you're right about the unobtrusive start, I'd never have found it if I hadn't already known where to look through reading the posts on this forum. Bom Caminho, you're going to have a fantastic time.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
Farther up the road from the cathedral There's an actual starting point, at least this was there in 2015. Dismal Church was further up the hill from the main Cathedral on the left side if I remember correctly. This church was not open to the public,. What wonderful memories this brings back. Tomar was one of my favorite afternoon/evenings on the Camino Portugues. Bom Camino!

I've got a place set up in Santa Iria De Azoia. Due to reasons of a bad back, 4 lbs of pills, and all the batteries and stuff to GoPro the whole trip (I speed up the day and post on YouTube), I end up getting a set place to stay each night. Takes some of the adventure that I used to like away but no worries about where to sleep. :) Also, pictures and such on Instagam/Facebook. If something of note, fun, or interest comes up, I'll post here as well. Actually start tomorrow.

I remember that well. Last year we couldn't find it and then one of the hundreds of wonderful and helpful Portuguese people tapped my friend on the shoulder and pointed down the street. Then with a smile we heard our first Bom Camino!
