Is there a service such as Jacotrans on the Via de la Plata.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
I walked the first half of the Via de la Plata last month and saw no sign of any regular baggage transfer services. On a couple of occasions other people in the albergues got together and booked a taxi to carry their luggage forward and also to shorten their next stage. Something of a Catch-22 situation I think: the VDLP attracts far fewer walkers than routes like the Frances or the Portugues and so has less infrastructure and fewer services. Personally I like it as it is and would be sad to see it follow the example of the busier routes. Enjoy the difference while it lasts.

I think you will find that the VdeLP is rapidly changing, why, because in the past it was usually the reserve of experienced pilgrims who had an understanding of Camino etiquette. I found this year that there were a lot of first timers. As a consequence there were many instances of behaviours not previously found. Taxis, bed racing, 5 o’clock lights, etc etc.

George

I too don't recall seeing one on my three VldPs. However, there were people using taxi services (which, IMO, is a shame). It's always a shame to see people rushing for beds as it takes away the camino spirit / etiquette and they miss out on some of the good sights that this camino has to offer. If you plan your stages well I'm sure that you will find it quite manageable. I'm going back again next April for a 4th time/ Don't forget on some stages you can always fallback and catch a bus halfway and walk the rest to the albergue. Good luck with your planning.

One reason for me choosing the VDLP is to avoid the constant stress of the bed race on the busier routes. Alas I haven’t escaped it. Literally every bed (that I’m able to contact) is full from...
I think I’m on day 12, so not quite two weeks in. Thus far the VDLP is definitely a different animal than the CF. And I have to say, I’m struggling to enjoy it as much as the CF last year. I...
